All the details on how to throw a retro Christmas party, featuring a nostalgic menu, vintage decor, supplies list, and aesthetic inspo.

This was such a fun theme. 60s and 70s food trends are truly in a league of their own. And the decor— somewhere on the verge of tacky—is subdued enough to almost feel fashionable.
To amplify the evening festivities, I set up an area to decorate gingerbread houses. It was the perfect arts and craft activity to do after we’d finished up our first round at the buffet. Highly recommend.
Here’s how it all went down.

Cranberry Punch Bowl
Pecan Cheese Log
Vegetable Platter with French Onion Dip
Mini Quiches
Deviled Eggs
Shrimp Cocktail Tree
I covered a 15-inch styrofoam cone with kale using green ornament hangers. I bought already-cooked shrimp with the tail and hung them on the tree using standard toothpicks.
Cocktail Meatballs
Pigs In A Blanket
Jello Mold
Christmas Cookies
Prep as much as you can ahead of time. And don’t feel the need to make everything from scratch. It’s totally okay to incorporate store-bought items to lighten the workload or to simply fill out the buffet.

Yes, a text would have sufficed. But I came across the perfect vintage-inspired invitation design and just couldn’t help myself.
